About La Puente

La Puente’s post-war housing stock often still runs original or near-original service equipment that struggles with multi-ton AC, home offices, and EV charging. We evaluate real load before recommending a panel upgrade, replace unsafe or obsolete gear, update protection (GFCI/AFCI where required), and handle La Puente permits so your job closes cleanly. Neighborhood commercial spaces get the same straight talk on scope and downtime.

Process Questions

How do I get a quote for panel upgrades in La Puente?

We do not give blind estimates over the phone. After we understand your La Puente project and, when needed, visit the site, we provide a custom written quote with scope and pricing spelled out. Call (657) 239-6331 to start.

What is an SCE meter spot request?

A meter spot (or similar SCE service order) is how the utility reviews where the meter and service equipment will land and whether the overhead or underground service must change. We prepare the customer-side panel design so your SCE request matches what the inspector and utility expect.

Do you handle La Puente building permits?

Service Questions

Can you upgrade my electrical panel in La Puente?

Yes. We upgrade main panels and subpanels for La Puente homes, including 200A upgrades when load requires it. Every job is different — we provide a custom quote after we see your site. Typical panel upgrade projects often start around $4,957 in labor (14 hours at our standard rate) before materials, permits, and scope; there is no one-size-fits-all maximum.

Can I add a 100-amp subpanel to a 200-amp main?

Often yes, if the calculated load on the 200A service allows it and the feeder, breaker, and conductors are sized correctly. The subpanel cannot exceed what the feeder and main can safely supply. We verify with a load calculation before installing.

What are common signs of an outdated electrical panel?

Frequent breaker trips, warm or buzzing panels, flickering lights when large loads start, a full panel with no spare slots, Federal Pacific / Zinsco / Pushmatic equipment, or a 60–100A main when you want EV or HVAC upgrades. Any burning smell or sparking at the panel is an emergency — call (657) 239-6331.

"I needed an electrical panel upgrade so I went to YELP for a referral. I requested several quotes and Michael was the first to respond (within minutes). We scheduled an appointment for the following day. He showed up at the precise scheduled time and thoroughly inspected the project and gave me a detailed plan on what was needed. After evaluating several other companies, I decided to go with Michael. His wasn’t the most expensive nor cheapest but his professionalism helped make my decision. He pulled the permit and contacted Edison before starting the job. About a week later we scheduled an appointment for installation, most of which was completed the first day. He came back the next to finish up a few things (cleaning the area each day.) He scheduled his patch & repair person in the following days and the final inspection. My only complaint would be that his patch & repair person was not as meticulous about cleaning the area after he finished his job. Otherwise, from start to finish I am pleased with the outcome. I told Michael he’s my electrician for life now!! Don’t hesitate in hiring him - you won’t be disappointed."

"I recently had First Electric upgrade my electrical panel, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! Michael came over to do the work, and he was super friendly and really knew his stuff. He explained everything in a way that made sense, so I felt totally comfortable with the whole process. The upgrade itself was done quickly and without any issues, and Michael even noticed a couple of other things around the house that needed some attention, which he fixed right on the spot! I didn’t feel rushed or pressured at all, which I really appreciated. If you need any electrical work done, especially something as important as a panel upgrade, I’d definitely recommend First Electric. I’m so glad I went with them!"
